CLOVER, or the genus trifolium, is a collective of more than 300 species of flowering plants native to various parts of the world. Many of them are naturalized in North America and some are native here. The word for clover in Hoocąk is xąąwįjop, in Anishinaabemowin nisoobag, in Michif li clover roozh, in Ewe dzẽ clover, in Hebrew תלתן אדום (til’tan adom), and in Irish seamair dhearg. Red clover is something we see around us in the Teejop area and all over the midwest, a useful medicine for a variety of ailments and a beautiful, bright addition to the landscape.
